Soapmaking on the farm
Soap making at Beloved Acres began quietly in our kitchen in the early 2010s, long before it became a product we shared beyond our home. It started with a simple desire for clean hands, gentle bathing for our children, and a home that smelled truly clean—especially when cooking, preserving food, and living close to the land. What we noticed right away was how different real soap felt: nourishing, mild, and never stripping.
Over the years, we have worked with a wide range of traditional fats and ingredients—grass-fed beef tallow, goat and cow’s milk, shea butter, olive and coconut oils, as well as heritage fats like bear fat and pig lard—combined with herbal infusions, teas, flowers, and natural botanicals. Every bar we make follows time-tested soapmaking methods you would have found in 18th and 19th century homes. We make all of our soaps completely from scratch, never using melt-and-pour bases, synthetic colorants, or modern shortcuts.
Our soaps are not designed to be trendy or perfectly uniform. Some bars may look rustic, uneven, or naturally colored—and that is intentional. With higher superfat ratios, each bar is made to be exceptionally gentle and moisturizing, leaving the skin nourished rather than tight or dry. These are working soaps, made the old way, for everyday life—simple, honest, and deeply rooted in tradition.
